about

I don't even know where to begin with this one. My good buddy, Shawn Smith died 10 days before we went to London Bridge to record this album. I told producer, Kelly Gray, that I wanted to include this song at the very last minute. We did it in one take. I was losing my shit, sobbing all throughout this amazing song. It just made sense to do at the time. He wrote this song about the loss of his best friend, Andrew Wood. We were in the same studio that still has the same piano that Andy recorded "Chloe Dancer/ Crown Of Thorns" on. It just made sense. Shawn Smith was the one who talked me into dragging a piano on stage one night when we were talking backstage at Highway 99 Blues Club. Then he just...died. This is the only way I could ever thank him, by honouring him. Hopefully this album sells millions so I can give Dove a fat check. I know he misses his Daddy...
